More items have been added to give more life to the world of Demon’s Souls, as it would be a shame if it felt static and lifeless with nothing but demons everywhere. Along with this, Bluepoint has given more unique animations to weapons so they all feel different. The original’s poor four direction rolling system made dodging enemy attacks hard. It was one of the things that increased the game’s difficulty in a frustrating way. Thankfully, players can breathe a sigh of relief because omnidirectional rolling is in the remake. What’s clever about this is that Demon’s Souls’ structure makes every playthrough feel different because you’re able to approach each world in new ways. For my first playthrough, I went with a magic-focused build and went to world 3 first so I could stock up on magic-replenishing consumables and unlock the NPC that grants access to the most powerful spells.

The trophies are also more interesting and less of a slog compared to the original game (shown above), and while I don’t normally bother with trophies, I actually had fun acquiring them all for this remake. This single change makes the whole game a lot more straightforward and less awkward.
